Open forums begin Jan. 9th for VP academic affairs candidates

Students and college employees are invited to attend open forum sessions with finalists for the position of vice president for academic affairs.

Student forums will be from 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm and employee forums will be from 2:15 to 3 pm in the Iroquois room.  

  • Tuesday, Jan. 9 – Dr. Michael Hepner, Assistant Dean of Instruction, Vincennes University, Vincennes, IN
  • Wednesday, Jan. 10 – Melvin Harrison, Director for Academic Affairs, Illinois Community College Board, Springfield, IL
  • Tuesday, Jan. 16 – Courtney Schoolmaster,  Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, South Louisiana Community College, Lafayette, LA
  • Wednesday, Jan. 17 – Dr. Quincy Rose-Sewell, Vice President of Academic Support Services/Chief Academic Officer, Pueblo Community College, Pueblo, CO

Each finalist will begin the Open Forum with a 5-minute introduction of themself, followed by a 10-minute presentation addressing the following: 

Looking into the future of community college education, what do you think will be the most significant disruptor of past practice.  How will this disruptor impact students? faculty? staff? business & industry? communities? What actions should we take now to ensure we are ready to encounter this disruption?

At the conclusion of their presentations, finalists will participate in an Open Forum where students, faculty, and staff will present them with questions relevant to their candidacy for VPAA at KCC.
