An Update on Accreditation

I have great news to share as we prepare for the holiday.

While the Higher Learning Commission has not given its permission to share the details KCC's recent Comprehensive Evaluation, a few of us were asked to review the team report to identify any "errors of fact."  This means we got a sneak peak of our results.

  • KCC "met" expectations for each of the five criteria as well as all nineteen core components.
  • KCC also "met" expectations in our Federal Compliance Review.
  • As we move forward, KCC has the opportunity to choose our pathway to accreditation, and we'll choose the Open Pathway.

This is the highest rating a college can receive for HLC's Comprehensive Evaluation!

I'm incredibly proud of the efforts the KCC college community made to ensure the very best evaluation possible, but I'm even more proud of your longer-term efforts to achieve excellence on behalf of the students we serve.  We already knew the value of a KCC education, but it sure feels good when perfect strangers give us kudos for our achievements.

Still, the full report we will receive in the new year gives us a lot to learn.  We'll need to make more than a few adjustments and improvements, especially as it relates to Federal Compliance issues.

I'm not worried, though, because I know our college community has what it takes to rise to any challenge as we maintain a commitment to our mission, vision, values, and philosophy.  As we prepare for the holiday break, we can do so with the confidence that KCC's accreditation record remains exemplary.
