Following is a summary of topics addressed at KCC's Board of Trustees meeting, May 20, 2025.
Honored Guests. The Board met PTK advisors and students and learned about their Honors-in-Action project.
- Phi Theta Kappa faculty advisors: Frances Hebert, Jaclyn Montemayer, and Ken West.
- Phi Theta Kappa student officers: Charli Palmateer, co-president; Megan Minor, co-president, Aaron Knupp, vice president; Adele Mau-Bridges, Honors-in-Action project chair
Action Items. The Board approved the following:
- Request to bid science supplies, VMWare
- Request to award bids for smart classroom AV renovations
- Lease agreement with the Kankakee Valley Park District for the fitness center space
- Request to purchase catalog, curriculum and syllabus management software
- Resolution honoring Student Trustee Robert Rogers
- Tuition and course reimbursements
President's Report. Dr. Boyd said…
- Commencement was an amazing day for faculty, staff, graduates and families.
- Electrical Technology is receiving a new robot and Health Careers is receiving an Anatomage table for their programs.
- Thanks to Senator Joyce for his help in releasing MTA grant funds at the legislative level.
- Kudos to Chief Eric Springer on the receipt of the Paragon award and also on earning an Advanced Certificate at Saturday's commencement.
- Cavaliers Baseball went all the way to sectionals but lost their bid for a spot at the national tournament. They had an amazing season.
- KCC and ONU's leadership team will meet later this month. It's a good way to stay connected to our higher education partners in the community.
- The next ICCTA meeting will take place on June 6.
Student Trustee's Report. Robert Rogers said…
- Baseball had a record-breaking 46/10 season! The watch party for the national tournament was a little heartbreaking to experience because they didn't get the bid to go to nationals.
- Thanks to the board for the year of learning and growth. The next step is transferring to Governors State in the fall to major in Criminal Justice.
