As the season changes, it's a great time to revisit KCC's business casual dress guidelines to ensure we're all representing the College in a positive, professional way.
Employees are recognized not only for the service they provide, but also for the impression they make through their appearance. We ask that everyone dress appropriately for their position and maintain attire that is neat and clean.
Employees are expected to wear business casual attire, except on approved "Spirit/Casual Days." Employees who contribute at least $4 per pay period through our Giving Day incentive to the KCC Foundation or United Way may wear jeans on Fridays only, when paired with a KCC shirt, sweatshirt, or Cavaliers spirit wear t-shirt.
Employees in the Physical Plant Department are required to wear uniforms, and certain employees in ITS are required to wear KCC-collared shirts. Details on obtaining and maintaining required uniforms are available from each unit's Director.
What does "business casual" look like?
Here are a few examples:
- Pants made of cotton, khaki, twill, corduroy, or gabardine (no blue jeans, shorts, or leggings worn as pants)
- Dress or skirt, if desired (of appropriate length)
- A cotton dress shirt/blouse that buttons down the front, or a knit polo shirt with a collar, or a cardigan/sweater (no hoodies)
- Dress-casual shoes such as Oxfords, loafers, leather slip-ons, or short boots (no Crocs)
- Belt or tie, if desired
If you have any questions about what's appropriate, please feel free to contact me at ext. 8127.
Thank you for helping keep KCC's image professional and welcoming—no matter the season!
