As our college continues to evolve through renovations, upgrades, and modernization efforts, it's the perfect time for our facilities team to receive an update as well.

For many years, the term "Physical Plant" has been used in higher education to describe facilities and maintenance functions. While the name is rooted in tradition, it no longer reflects the full range of services, expertise, and leadership provided by the department.
To better represent our work — including professionalism, sustainability, service, and campus-wide support — the Physical Plant Department will now be known as:
Campus Operations

Updated Section Names
To align with the department name change, several internal sections will also receive updated names that more clearly describe their roles and services:

• Physical Plant → Campus Operations
• Mailroom → Campus Services & Logistics
• Custodial → Building Services
• Maintenance → Facility Operations
• Grounds → Campus Environment & Fleet Services
• New → Facility Construction & Compliance

Title Updates
Along with section names, leadership titles will also be updated. These are name changes only — there are no changes to job duties or classifications.

• Director of Facilities → Director of Campus Operations
• Coordinator of Custodial Services → Coordinator of Building Services
• Manager of Facility Maintenance → Manager of Facility Operations
• Assistant Director of Grounds & Horticulture → Assistant Director of Campus Environment & Fleet Services
