The KCC art program is currently hosting an intimate exhibition of photographs by the accomplished veteran artist Eric Perez in the upper gallery of the art hallway.

To complement the show, we will be holding an artist talk with Eric on February 12 at 1:00 p.m.
Your students may find this a meaningful experience, and we'd be very grateful if you could share this invitation with them and encourage their attendance.

ERIC PEREZ
RECOLLECT

Kankakee Community College is honored to present RECOLLECT, a solo exhibition by celebrated photographer and Marine Corps veteran Eric Perez. The exhibition features contemplative portraits of Perez's platoonmates over 20 years after their deployments to Iraq in 2004. The works present these veterans beyond their time in the military, highlighting their resilience and layered lives.

Perez notes, “Here are these people I've called brothers for twenty years. But how well do I know them? Their quirks, passions, habits, pains and loves beyond our time together? How well do they know me? This project is about our coming together to truly see one another and acknowledge all of who we are. Not just Marines, but fathers, husbands, uncles, ceramicists, welders, health-care providers, mountain bikers, barbers, commercial renovators, and so much more.”

RECOLLECT is a fleshing out of who Perez's “brothers in arms” are beyond the three to five intense years of service they spent together. To realize the series, Perez traveled around the country to reunite with his platoonmates and photograph them in their hometowns in a meaningful location of their choosing.
