A group of employees from KCC attended the Women United event on March 18 at Chalfant Hall, joining community members for a morning focused on connection, empathy, and shared experiences.
The event featured an inspiring keynote from KCC's own Dr. Melvina Calvin-Edwards, assistant professor and program coordinator for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. A past KCC commencement speaker, Calvin-Edwards shared powerful insights drawn from her life and work in education and law enforcement, emphasizing the importance of understanding others and building meaningful relationships.
Additional speakers included Cindy DeGroot and Fawn Hendershot, both KCC alumni, as well as Christina Nojd, a former KCC employee. Hendershot is a past recipient of the John M. Fulton Distinguished Alumni award and, like Calvin-Edwards, has also served as a KCC commencement speaker. While the speakers' remarks focused broadly on personal and professional experiences, their connections to KCC highlight the college's ongoing impact within the community.
Together, the speakers reinforced a common theme: the power of empathy, connection, and community. Their messages offered meaningful perspective and inspiration for all in attendance.
