Following is a summary of topics addressed at KCC's Board of Trustees meeting, March 24, 2026.

Action Items. The Board approved the following:

  • Appointment of Matthew Schore to serve as a trustee
  • Architectural services for athletic locker rooms
  • Request for bids for locker room renovations, air conditioners for R Building, and Crowdstrike software
  • Bid awards for incident management software and roadway, parking lot and walkway repairs
  • Letters of Intent for sports teams
  • Revisions to course fees
  • Travel reimbursement request
  • Grant awards
  • Tuition and Course reimbursements

President's Report. Dr. Boyd said…

  • We are delaying our strategic planning process for a year while the Aspen Fellowship program is underway. 
  • KCC is designated as a Military Friendly School again this year. The news will be shared with the community when the announcement can be made publicly. 
  • The U.S. Census Bureau and Dept. of Labor released a federal report that ranks KCC 7th in the state for post-graduate earnings, reinforcing that our focus on preparing graduates for family-sustaining careers makes a difference in the community.

  • Dr. Lesley Cooper noted that Lightcast's economic impact study findings will be shared in April, and illustrate the return on investment for KCC students, taxpayers and the community.  
  • Dr. Quincy Rose-Sewell noted that CAPTE (the Commission on Accreditation for Physical Therapy Education) recently granted reaccreditation for our Physical Therapy program. 
  • Kari Nugent noted that the KCC Foundation scholarship application deadline is May 1 and Give Day is postponed while the community recovers from the tornado damage.

  • The ICCTA March meeting featured roundtable discussions about AI in the classroom, dual enrollment and the Dept. of Education's transition to the Dept. of Labor. 
  • The next meeting for the National Association for Community Colleges Trustees will be in Chicago this October.
