The mural celebrating KCC's 60 years has now been fully installed in the hallway connecting Student Affairs and the Workforce Development Center.

The completed work is different than many may have anticipated, but that is part of its intent. As with much contemporary public art, it is designed to invite reflection, conversation, and interpretation—art is meant to make us think, and this piece does exactly that.

Created by Chicago-based artist Caz Perez, the mural reflects his graffiti-inspired visual language and urban contemporary style. 

The final installation offers a striking visual statement that adds a new dimension to the campus environment and reinforces the "Surprise and Delight" spirit guiding KCC's 60th anniversary celebration.

As previously shared, Perez will return to campus this fall to collaborate directly with students on a large-scale canvas mural project, continuing the effort to connect professional artists with hands-on student learning experiences.

This installation marks an important early milestone in the anniversary year—bringing art into daily campus pathways in a way that encourages pause, curiosity, and engagement. Look for more 60th anniversary events and activities this fall as our celebration year launches in August 2026.
